Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Hotshot Driver to operate Ford F-450 pickup trucks with up to 35’ gooseneck trailers. This role involves transporting freight, machinery, oversize loads, and campers, often in tight urban and high-traffic environments.
The position requires reporting to our Kitchener yard at the start of each shift to pick up the trailer and load. The truck may be taken home at the end of the day if preferred; however, the trailer and load must be returned to the yard daily unless otherwise directed.
Key Responsibilities
Operate F-450 pickup trucks with up to 35’ gooseneck trailers
Transport freight, machinery, industrial equipment, and campers safely and efficiently
Handle oversize loads up to 12’ in width in compliance with regulations
Transport bumper pull and fifth wheel campers (small to large units)
Perform proper load securement (straps, chains, binders, tarping when required)
Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on every shift (strict requirement)
Communicate professionally with dispatch, clients, and site contacts
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all freight
Complete required logs and documentation in accordance with ELD regulations
Requirements
Valid A/R Class driver’s license or higher
Minimum 3 years of truck driving and flatbed experience required
Experience operating and towing large trailers
Strong knowledge of proper load securement for freight, machinery, and trailers
Experience handling oversize loads up to 12' wide, including navigating tight urban and residential environments with precision, safety, and awareness of limited clearance areas
Clean driving record
Strong punctuality and reliability
Ability to start early mornings and work 10–13 hour days
Overtime paid after 8 hours per day
Ability to travel across Ontario and beyond as required
Flexible availability, including early mornings and occasional weekends
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Professional communication with clients and site contacts at all times
Confident operation in tight urban environments (Hamilton, Kitchener, Burlington, St. Catharines, and surrounding areas)
Must maintain cleanliness and care of company trucks and equipment, treating all assets with respect
Must take pride in maintaining clean trucks and well-maintained equipment at all times
24/7 service availability required depending on client demand
