  • Hotshot trucking is indeed a service designed for the fast transport of smaller, time-sensitive loads. It typically involves using medium-duty trucks (often pickup trucks) with flatbed trailers to move freight that doesn't require a full-sized semi-truck. The cargo can range from construction materials and machinery to smaller commercial goods that need urgent delivery. The flexibility of hotshot trucking makes it an ideal option for expedited or last-minute shipments, often operating on a per-load basis without the need for a full truckload, thereby reducing costs and speeding up delivery times.

  • At Task Force Transport & Logistics, we always recommend that clients maintain their own comprehensive insurance. This ensures that, in the event of a claim, their insurance can respond quickly, with any neccesary subrogation handled afterward. However, since the cargo will be under our care, custody, and control, rest assured that your cargo insurance will extend to cover it.

  • After scheduling your shipment, follow these steps to ensure a smooth process:

    1. Confirm Details: Check the confirmation email or message for shipment details, including pickup and delivery times, locations, and any special instructions.

    2. Create a Bill of Lading (BOL): Prepare a Bill of Lading that outlines the details of your shipment, including item descriptions, weights, and any special handling instructions. You will need to provide three copies of the BOL:

      • One copy for the driver: This stays with the shipment for reference during transport.

      • One copy for the shipper: Retain this for your records.

      • One copy for the receiver: Ensure the recipient receives this copy upon delivery.

    3. Prepare Your Shipment: Ensure that your items are properly packed and labeled according to our guidelines. If you have any specific requirements, please communicate them in advance.

    4. Coordinate Access: Make arrangements for access at both the pickup and delivery locations. Confirm with any necessary parties to avoid delays.

    5. Track Your Shipment: Use the tracking information provided in your confirmation to monitor your shipment’s progress.

    6. Contact Us with Questions: If you have any concerns or need further assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our customer service team.

By following these steps, you can help ensure a successful shipping experience!

  • A Bill of Lading (BOL) is a legally binding document issued by a carrier that details the type, quantity, and destination of goods being shipped. It serves three main purposes:

    1. Receipt of Goods – The BOL acts as a receipt confirming that the carrier has received the shipment in good condition.

    2. Contract of Carriage – It functions as a contract between the shipper and carrier, outlining the terms of transport.

    3. Title of Goods – The BOL serves as proof of ownership, transferring responsibility from the shipper to the carrier, and then ultimately to the recipient.

The BOL is essential in freight shipping as it helps ensure a smooth transfer of goods and clear documentation of responsibilities.

How many copies do you need to make and provide?

Please make three copies of the BOL. One is for your records, one for the driver, and one for the recipient. This ensures everyone involved has a copy for reference and documentation.

  • Please make THREE copies of the BOL:

Shipper: One copy is for your records and will require the driver’s signature upon pickup.

Carrier (Trucking Company): One copy is for the driver, which serves as their record of the shipment.

Recipient: One copy is for the recipient to confirm delivery and for their records.

This process ensures that all parties have a copy of the BOL for reference and documentation.

  • FTL, or full truckload shipping, is a method used for large shipments that require an entire truck—or close to it. With FTL, only one shipper’s freight occupies the truck, granting the shipper exclusive use of the vehicle and, ideally, filling its capacity.

An FTL shipment allows the truck to be reserved for full capacity, even if the load doesn’t take up all available space. This setup eliminates any concerns the shipper may have about the shipment transferring between vehicles or being combined with other cargo. Often, these shipments are referred to simply as "full loads."

  • Less-than-truckload (LTL) freight refers to transporting shipments that are smaller and don’t require an entire truck. LTL shipments, often organized on pallets, typically range from 150 to 10,000 pounds.

Sometimes called “partials,” LTL allows freight from multiple shippers to be combined in the same trailer instead of dedicating a whole truck to a single shipper. By consolidating multiple LTL shipments, carriers can optimize the truck’s capacity, maximizing efficiency while keeping costs manageable.
